REciprocity
The old story of scarcity and greed is dying. What is being born is ours for the making!
I believe everyone deserves access to art and beauty. During the pandemic I began offering my work to people without prices attached. I felt a lack of joy in the status quo so I decided to have a show where I literally gave all my art away for whatever people wanted to offer in exchange. It was AMAZING! Since then, I have committed to changing the narrative by offering my work each year either as a gift or on a sliding scale. The format continues to evolve, as I navigate how to sustain myself while exchanging my artwork with you in this countercultural way, but I am totally committed to finding a new way forward.
By acquiring a piece of my work you become intricately engaged with my wellbeing and my ability to continue to do what I love most; paint. You also have an opportunity to get curious about your relationship with generosity as well as the stories of lack or scarcity that might arise. There is deep and important healing that comes when we loosen the grip of dollar signs from our human interactions.
RECIPROCITY is a living, dynamic approach of caring for one another that is older than any money system and it’s finally making a necessary resurgence. By turning our hearts, hands, and heads back toward a system rooted in generosity and care we are locally addressing the violence occurring on the planet due to corporate greed and resource hoarding. We must remain creative and adaptable on a community level. I don’t know what to do with all the mayhem. I don’t have the answers. But I do know that things are changing. They always do. I also know that meaningful change usually begins at the grassroots level. This is my small contribution to doing things differently. Hopefully it inspires you to support my mission as well as to share your gifts more freely with the world as well!
If you feel called to support my mission of reciprocity, my venmo is @rhianna-leigh-1 or PayPal. I am beyond thrilled to receive any and all monetary contributions for my time and effort in offering my work to the world in this format!
If you’re still feeling confused or unfamiliar with this approach please check out the work of Charles Eisenstein. His interpretation of where we’re currently at and where we’re headed have been pivotal in my journey.
